Welcome to Vail, Colorado.
Vail is a town in Eagle County, Colorado, USA. The population was 4,531 at the 2000 census. It is famous for its skiing and other winter sports in addition to being a year round destination for outdoor activities. Interstate 70 runs east-west through the middle of Vail. It is the only road to Vail. East of Vail along the highway is Vail Pass; west is Eagle-Vail.
With 300 inches of snow falling annually, is it any wonder that Vail is a wonderland for winter sports lovers?

Vail is served by Eagle County Airport, which is near Gypsum. Vail is modeled after European ski towns, many of which are car-free. Vail is only partially car-free, but it is practical to vacation in Vail without a car. Parking is expensive and hard to find (some hotels have none). Instead, Vail hosts the largest free shuttle bus system in the USA
The Vail Film Festival is a 4-day film festival which takes place annually in late March in Vail. The festival draws attendees and filmmakers from across the United States and around the world. The festival draws over 12,000 attendees and 300 filmmakers, including high profile celebrities and national media.
Dr. Richard Steadman is a world renowned knee specialist surgeon practising in Vail, Colorado; and Clinical Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Due to his specialisation in knee surgery, and the increasing strain on sports stars to create quick movement creating additional strain and failure on the knee joint, Steadman has an expanding list of world famous sports clients. In 2001, Steadman was inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame, for his skills in extending the careers of various skiiers.
The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens are the world's highest botanical garden, located at 183 Gore Creek Drive, Vail, Colorado, USA, at an 8,200 feet altitude in the Rocky Mountains. The Gardens are open to the public daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The Gardens were founded by Vail and Denver horticulturists in 1985, with subsequent planting of the Alpine Display Garden (1987), Mountain Perennial Garden (1989), Mountain Meditation Garden (1991), and the Alpine Rock Garden (1999) with its stunning 120-foot waterfall. Other gardens include the Children's Garden and Schoolhouse Garden. Together these gardens contain about 2,000 varieties of plants, including over 500 different varieties of wildflowers and alpine plants.
Winter, spring, summer, fall - many of the Vail Valley activities are offered no matter what season. For outdoor enthusiasts, the Rocky Mountains offer a spectacular setting to connect with Mother Nature and experience views from the top of the world. If your preference is to sit back on your vacation an enjoy pampering fit for royalty, you won't be disappointed either. The Vail Valley is kid-friendly too with plenty of activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Although Vail has a shorter summer season than many summer vacation destinations (very late June to September), the pure grandness of the scenery and mountains around make up for it. When you consider that 80% of Eagle County is public land, the fact that people come to Vail to get out into the open is no surprise.
